Today, our firm filed our third amicus brief in the case challenging California’s background check requirement for ammunition purchases — our first amicus brief was filed in the prior appeal well before the Supreme Court’s decision in Bruen and the second brief was after. Our brief began by recounting California’s history of gun laws infringing on Second Amendment rights and amici‘s briefs opposing California’s efforts. We argued that the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Rahimi did not change the Supreme Court’s analysis of Second Amendment challenges, which should result in California’s ammunitions background check requirement being considered unconstitutional.
