Attorneys Alicia Kutzer and Bill Olson discuss our recent amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court in Reel v. North Carolina, a case challenging the expansion of a controversial law enforcement tactic known as the “knock and talk” technique, which allows officers to enter property without a warrant only to the same extent as neighbors, delivery drivers, and Girl Scouts selling cookies.  Our brief urged the court to establish clear limits to the technique, to prevent further violation of the Constitution’s Fourth Amendment prohibition against unreasonable searches and seizures.
