Trump v. United States — Amicus Brief

Jeremiah Morgan Constitutional Law, U. S. Supreme Court

Today, our firm filed an amicus brief in support of the President having immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts taken while in office. Our amicus brief explained that the Constitution provides for impeachment of the President, and there are other principles which support the immunity of the President. Allowing criminal prosecution results in specious charges such as the ones in this case brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith against President Trump for issues relating to January 6, 2021. Our amicus brief detailed how the charges of the indictment against Trump are based on an incorrect theory about the role of the Vice President in the counting of electoral votes.
